Hellspoort

The word Hellspoort means Hell’s Pass, and accurately describes the road through the range of hills here. The area has unique vegetation known as Fish River Succulent Thicket, and is about 6 feet high and thick. The plants are nutritious and allow game to survive under very harsh conditions. The lodge is very comfortable with private bathrooms, and the hunting area both hilly and flat. This provides excellent terrain for bowhunters, rifle hunters and handgunners, and the variety of game is incredible. Again, over ten species of game is available here. Warthogs are prolific, and kudu, impala and duiker are in high densities.
To get to Hellspoort takes one hour twenty minutes from Port Elizabeth, and is directly north of Grahamstown. It takes about half an hour from Medbury, if one is staying there, and you decide to hunt Hellspoort for a day.
